Being active during our spare time
Thomas Kieller

During our spare time, we can do many types of activity. Ideas do not lack.

We can:

  • do physical activity or a sport,
  • keep close with our family and friends,
  • go to the movie theater,
  • go to a shopping center,
  • watch television,
  • listen to music or play some,
  • play video games or on a computer,
  • surf on the net,
  • play cards or games,
  • do carpentry,
  • paint or draw,
  • read, write or just think,
  • relax or rest,
  • travel.

Nevertheless, it's important to say that studies show that Americans and Canadians do not consecrate enough time to move. Indeed, the great majority of the population forsake physical activity to do other types of recreative activities, without considering the impact on their health and on their physical form. This is really upsetting if we know that the body needs to be active in order to be healthy.

The people who are inactive must put in perspective their lifestyle in order to allow a greater place to practicing sports. Physical activity must be an integral part of our spare times; this is for our physical and intellectual well-being. To live actively, we must have will-power and we must be able to manage our free time.

It is also necessary to separate the work from leisure periods. If we are not able to do so, our health and our social life will suffer. No matter what the reason that keeps you from doing physical activities or sports, you must surmount it. Be active, it's for your sake.
